Fellow Travelers Fall releases

From time-to-time, we like to bring you news of "Fellow Travelers" that Deadheads might be interested in. This time of year the record companies release a lot of stuff, so instead of telling you about just one release, we have four! So, before we begin, here's a brief wrapup on ongoing issues at the GDF Store:

The WB Box Set

All of the initial preorders were shipped last week, and the balance are due to ship tomorrow or Wednesday. [note: as of this web update, all backorders are now shipped]

Grate Pumpkin Bean Bear

All the preorders have been shipped, and we have a few left. The other special bean, Frosted, is not due here until mid-December.

Widespread Panic releases new video, and first DVD

Just released, and filmed on 8/12/2000 at their favorite venue Oak Mountain Amphitheatre in Pelham, AL, this also marks the first DVD they've released. It has 2+ hours of an entire Widespread Panic concert in 5.1 digital sound, and features music from their latest release Don't Tell The Band, favorites and classic covers.

DVD includes band interviews, fan footage, photo galleries and behind the scenes footage.

Dave Matthews Band "Live in Chicago 12.19.98"

This 2-CD set is excellently recorded, and is something DMB fans should really like. Recorded before Dave started playing electric guitar (not a universally-acclaimed move!) but featuring the guest electric guitar of Tim Reynolds, this is classic DMB. Being a bass player myself, I particularly like the opening song on disc 2, "The Maker," which besides being a great groove, features a monster bass solo by guest Victor Wooten at the end of the track.

Gov't Mule "The Deep End, Vol. 1"

Volume 1 features singer /guitarist Warren Haynes and drummer Matt Abts with a different guest bass player on each of the 13 songs, including Bootsy Collins (P-Funk, James Brown), Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers), John Entwistle (The Who), Stefan Lessard (Dave Matthews Band) and Les Claypool (Primus).

Volume 1 also includes performances by Gregg Allman, Rob Barraco, Randall Bramblett, Jerry Cantrell, Audley Freed, Eddie Harsch, Chuck Leavell, Danny Louis, Paige McConnell, Little Milton, John Scofield, Derek Trucks and Bernie Worrell

Phish's 6-concert Live Release Package

A massive set totaling up 17 CD's, this package includes 6 separate live shows.

Live Phish is the new live release series from Phish. Twice a year, six complete, un-edited shows will be released. The releases were mastered directly from Phish sound engineer Paul Languedoc's original two-track soundboard mixes.

We are taking preorders at a special price for this package, which includes the 6 concerts, and a special Showcase CD organizer to put them all in. We will ship preorders on October 30th, so get that order in ASAP!

The Shows:

  • Live Phish 01 (2 CDs): 12/14/95, Broome County Arena, Binghamton, New York
  • Live Phish 02 (3 CDs): 7/16/94, Sugarbush Summerstage, North Fayston, Vermont
